Start Up Procedures
Once the pre-operational check is completed it is time to follow the start-up procedures.
They are as follows:
Proper start-up lengthens the life of the engine and other components. Proper shut-down is equally as critical.

They are as follows:
- With the parking brake engage, ensure that all controls are in neutral position and that blade and attachment controls are in the "hold" position.
- Switch the ignition key to the "ON" position. (The engine oil pressure indicator will light.)
- Move throttle control to "low idle" position - start and run the engine for a minimum of five minutes.
- Check all gauges for proper function. (Most machines perform an automatic self-test.)
- Shift the transmission into low.
- Press the brake pedal and release the parking brake - move forward and check for proper braking.
- Check steering controls for proper operation.
- Manipulate all controls to ensure they are operating properly.
- Shift the gear back to neutral and reset the parking brake.
- Re-check for leaks, vibration and unusual noises.
